Yet another depiction of the great composer, player and singer Markos Vamvakaris (Μάρκος Βαμβακάρης), the "Patriarch" of Rembetiko music (Greek folk music or the Greek Blues).
This portrait was commisioned by "Apano Chora" (Απάνω Χώρα), a traditional tavern - restaurant in Ano Syros, the medieval settlement of Syros island. Many live concerts and gigs have taken place under this painting, featuring renowned musicians and singers from all over Greece.
The famous song 'The Blue Windows' (Τα Μπλε Παράθυρα), by Markos Vamvakaris, was the inspiration for the setting and mood of this painting.
